PITA is ribbon in Indonesian, whereas AYU refers to feminine beauty. The words together refer to the design of the back of the chair that continues to be its arms and legs and gives an impression of a ribbon elegantly draping around the chair. Stylistically, there is of course a trace of the Biedermeier about it. But the Javanese touch to this chair cannot be undermined.
